BECKLEY PARK
STANWAY

The Beckley Foundation was founded in 2000 by Amanda Feilding, Lady Neidpath, who is its director. It is run from headquarters at Beckley Park outside Oxford where it regularly hosts small gatherings of scientists and policymakers. It also holds meetings at Stanway in Gloucesteshire.

The Beckley Foundation is a charitable trust set up to promote the investigation of consciousness and its modulation, and the science of drug use, from a multidisciplinary perspective. It supports world-class research into the science, health, politics and history of practices used to alter consciousness, ranging from meditation to the ingestion of psychoactive substances. It is particularly interested in research that has practical implications in the search to improve health, mood and cognition, and to meet societal needs.

Its activities include organising and directing research programmes and seminars, and disseminating the information to academics, health professionals, policymakers and the public. The Beckley Foundation Drug Policy programme is a new project dedicated to providing a rigorous, independent review of global drug policy. It was set up to promote rational consideration of sensitive policy issues at an international level.
